MEDIA PROJECT Media Project is a permanent installation in the lower level of the gallery dedicated to presenting a collection of film, video, sound, and new media works on DVD. Media Project is intended as an open resource providing access to the general public and professional audiences. Once a month the gallery will feature an artist of the month presented on a flat screen in the gallery and on the website. Click here to visit the media project archives Lee Pembleton Clip of Lee Pembleton (Director of Disembody and founding member of The Museum of Viral Memory) at his first meeting with Janet Stott, the lawyer for 23 Entryways Into My Mind, Portal 6: 23E Studios in Conjunction with The Museum of Viral Memory and Fringe Exhibitions Presents Disembody. 23 Entryways Into My Mind, Portal 6: 23E Studios in Conjunction with The Museum of Viral Memory and Fringe Exhibitions Presents Disembody is the latest work from the artists at The Museum of Viral Memory. It is a site-specific installation, involving architects, web designers, graphic designers, contractors, costume designers, theater staff, a perfumer, and a complete video production center. To accomplish this work, The MVM has relocated to Los Angeles; founded a movie studio (23E Studios); is producing a feature length film; is building a theater to show the film; and is sponsoring a one week run of the film. After its limited engagement, the film will be submitted to film festivals and distributors in hopes of getting theatrical distribution, a DVD release, a Palme d'Or and an Oscar. To achieve this project, we have assembled a crew of approximately thirty people, from San Francisco to Taipei to Tokyo. As part of Disembody, the 23E Studios production facility at Fringe will feature a reality-TV style confessional booth where crew and visitors can go to express their opinions about the project. These will be regularly uploaded to 23EStudios.com, and may becoem part of the movie. Excerpts from the confessional will be uploaded to the Media Project daily. On July 8th, 2008 Disembody will go into production at Fringe Exhibitions. July 8th to July 12th, the gallery will be open anytime crew are working to prepare the gallery for the installation and shoot. Calling ahead is advised. On July 12th, we are hosting an opening reception from 6pm to 9pm, and the film will officially start shooting. The soundtrack composers for Disembody will be performing a live set with their band oRSo that evening at 8pm. July 13th to 19th, 7am to late Fringe will be open while we build the theater, lobby and arcade; and shoot, edit and score the film. July 19th, 2008 from 6pm to 9pm we will host a red carpet reception for Disembody, followed by a 9pm Gala Premiere. July 20th to 26th Disembody will show daily at 2:30pm, 5pm and 7pm. The last showing on July 26th will be followed by a closing reception. July 27 to August 3rd, 2008 Fringe will be open to visitors anytime crew are around de-installing. Calling ahead is advised.
