Ray Rapp is an artist originally from the Bay Area who is now living and working in Brooklyn, New York. His work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in Boston, Chicago, Miami, the Netherlands, New York, Quebec, San Francisco, Venice, and Washington DC. For more information about Ray Rapp visit his website www.rayrapp.com Neighboring Lives by Jake Lee-High is an eighteen-channel sound installation housed within a constructed studio apartment. Voices and actions can be heard coming from the floor, ceiling, and surrounding walls. The audio tracks are comprised of field recordings, podcasts, and open source sound files drawn from the Internet. Through these sounds the viewer begins to visually construct the lives that inhabit the neighboring apartments. The installation explores the auditory impact on the individual from their surroundings, as well as the involuntary voyeurism inherent in urban living. Jake Lee-High is a Los Angeles based installation artist currently exploring the spatial qualities of sound through the use of multi-channel audio configurations. In his work, acoustic environments alter the way individuals experience their surroundings. For more information about Jake Lee-High visit his website www.jakeleehigh.com |
